Larry Hagman as J.R. introduces a flashback story of the origin of the Ewing-Barnes feud during the Depression, when Digger Barnes becomes convinced that Jock has cheated him out of his share in their oil fields. The last straw is when Jock starts dating Miss Ellie, the love of his life.
